Saturday October 13th saw 150 Alumni from 1968 up to 2018 descent on Kilkea Castle, Co. Kildare for a truly memorable night. Kilkea Castle’s General Manager Aidan O’Sullivan and Sales and Marketing Director Niall Kelly – both classmates from the class of 2011 – pulled out all the stops to ensure that a 5* night was had by everyone in attendance.
Anniversary Classes
Some very special Anniversary Classes were celebrating being together on the night – 1968, 1978, 1993 and 1998 – all were presented with commemorative Lapel Pins to mark the occasion. The Classes of 1978 and 1993 both made a weekend out of it with a Dinner for each class in Kilkea Castle on the night before the Ball – some photos of the 1993 group are at the bottom of the gallery below.

New Alumni President
A very important formality took place on the night – Aileesh Carew handed over the Alumni President’s Chain to Patrick Crawford. Thank you Aileesh for the past 2 years and good luck Patrick for the next 2 years! Brendan O’Connor from the Class of 1978 was the very first Alumni President and he was also there on the night to see the tradition continue.
Raffle and Auction
Thanks to the generosity of so many alumni, we had a fantastic array of Prizes. The Raffle and an animated Auction raised great funds for the Alumni – thank you to all who contributed and well done to the winners!
…a very late night!
The band was followed by a pianist in the Resident’s Bar and in true Shannon style, the incoming breakfast staff met many of the revellers as they headed to bed! Another wonderful event – thank you to all who attended, supported and assisted in putting it all together.
